Hal Lubsen
Mr. Lubsen is the CEO of Afilias and is a veteran in the domain name industry. Mr. Lubsen founded leading registrar Domain Bank, Inc. one of the Internet’s first domain name registrars and one of Afilias’ 18 founding members. He has also served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Internet Council of Registrars (CORE), a Swiss association, since 1998.
As the CEO of Afilias, Mr. Lubsen directed the launch of .INFO, the most successful generic Top Level Domain since .COM was introduced. The .INFO launch included a number of pioneering efforts, including the first large scale deployment of the new EPP protocol and the innovative Sunrise approach to intellectual property protection. Mr. Lubsen also worked closely with ISOC during ICANN’s .ORG redelegation process, resulting in Afilias’ successful management of the historic migration of .ORG to Afilias’ registry services system.
Mr. Lubsen has over 35 years of business experience in various disciplines. In addition to Internet companies, he is currently the President of Altronics, Inc., an alarm and security system vendor, and of Allied Central Services, an alarm monitoring company. As such, he has extensive experience in the operation of 24/7 customer service departments, and the development and maintenance of high security, redundant databases and networks. Mr. Lubsen’s business experience has provided him with a solid base of experience in recurring revenue businesses, and the accounting and related issues unique to such ventures. Mr. Lubsen is also engaged in the real estate development business in the Eastern Pennsylvania market.
He is a 1965 graduate of Muhlenburg College, located in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with a B.A. degree in Psychology.
